Hi all...

Having to do a bit of welding on the chassis of my 90... i.e. fitting a near cross member... Ive got a stick welder but had thought about looking for a mig, been looking at the sealey mightymig's 100 its gasless and uses fluxed wire... Any comments on what these are like would be appreciated...

Go somethink with more power the clarke 150 is a good tool and use gas as its alot nicer.

I have never got on with a gas less. I use a little Clark 151TE Turbo works well and my little genny will just run it

just bought myself a sealey siegen mini mig 130  to do the bulkhead and door frames. still practising - a long way to go me thinks !

I bought a clarke years ago; 100 i believe, have welded loads with it including ally and its gassed. Gas is not that expensive and you get about 1/2 hours use out of a bottle, you weld for seconds at a time so you can get a lot out of 1 bottle.

As with other comments, I would suggest you need something more powerful than a 100. It will struggle to get proper penetration on the chassis thickness. At least for any time anyway. You will be running near it's top end, so the thermal cutout will.... err..... cut out often. I've had a SIP 130 for many years and that would cut out sometimes when doing heavier work on chassis'.

thanks - found that site a few weeks ago, finally got some good welds going tonight - I had a frustrating time to start with - once I turned the gas up more its all going swimmingly :-)

Hi hrh dave, where aboputs are you as i might sell my mig that i no longer use.
Its a 200amp mig that has 10kg roll of 0.8mm wire in it.

Hi Dave I have a gas and gasles wielded and I find the gasles one better as I can get more heat into the wield, I don't have inside facility to wield and its one less cost, you can get some pritty good deals on fle bay for the wire, at the end of the day you need to work out wich one will be best for you

i have the sealy mighty mig 210 and for the money you pay for it its surprisingly smooth. Cant comment on the smaller migs but the 210 is good for the money
