Rear Door Lock not working
« on: November 19, 2007, 00:26:49 »
Help please, Today i went to open the rear door on my 1997 300tdi and the door handle would not work so i tried to open it from the inside but still no joy. The central locking is working ok, the lock buttons are going up and down, but the door still will not open, any one know what might be wrong.

Try operating the central locking and as soon as the button comes up try the handle.Mine worked this way maybe not the first time but I got it in the end .Until one of the arms fell off inside. Now I can only do this from the inside.

Try holding up the button on the door, and opening it at the same time,
(obviously from the inside) if this works, it's probably the spring in the locking mechanism.
Another cause could be that the outer handle is sticking, remove the green oval, spray WD40, Duck oil, or similar onto the mechanism, while working the handle, this has workrd every time I have tried it.

its typically the springs! pull the door card off and do it with your hand if you can. In the back of LROI a chap sells kits for disco locks!!

Got the lock to work by holding the button up, lock now working ok again, could well be a weak spring as there is some up and down movement, will have to replace the spring. Many thanks for your replies.
